“The English Courses Experience”

Learning how to write and speak in English language now-a-days is one of the most important tool for us in the labor ambit, but also helps us to be communicated worldwide as English is the universal language. Hence to have the possibility of having an English class in university is a privilege that has to be harness. In my case I come from an English school so since I first attended to school till seventh grade I was taught everything in English, even math was taught in English in my school, that is why sometimes friends of mine don’t understand the way I divide because it seems that in England they do it the other way round. Even though I thought I manage almost perfect the English language I didn’t exempt it so I had to course English 4 at university. Through the writing of blogs and other activities I was able to practice again my English that was getting rotten specifically in my talking. I use to talk it fluently but years have made it more disrupted. Writing blogs was a good and fun experience because they were about interesting matters and allowed us to express our opinions through research and open mind. Through the course I learned some new expressions and most important it made me realize that is necessary to constantly practice English in order to talk fluently and understand it. Finally, English is the language spoken by all of my favorites artists so for me in order to understand their songs and their meanings is necessary to manage good the language.

Here in the links above I share with you some of the latest music tracks I am listening to, enjoy!

Skating the Olympics

Let me tell you about one event that helped skateboarding as a discipline to be more considered in society and erase the prejudgment of it as a “crime”: When skateboarding was introduced into the Olympics. I got informed when I read it on http://www.elpatin.com/confirmado-el-skate-sera-olimpico-en-tokyo-2020/ and I think this event and news tried to change the vision of the non-skaters toward us, the skaters: Now skateboarding will no longer be considered as a game nor, on the other side, as vandalism, now that it is the Olympics is and “official” sport. I know it is a little bit bitter that this is a good fact because our roots are on the streets skating the spots, but it is impossible to deny that this are good news for skateboarding. In a way we are permitted to skate in the streets as it is permitted to jog or ride a bike, and even better and as an official sport it gets more promoted and popular, and popularity results in more investment in it which helps to construct good skateparks. This give us more places to do what we love and more importantly incentive me through the career I’m studying to specialize in architecture for skaters, by master the designing and planning of skateparks and big open parks with ledges and rails; this is for skaters to relate with the city and the society. So, this event benefits skateboarding and help it to be more recognized as a discipline and opens an area to be explored in aquiculture.

Professional skateboarder

Everyone has wishes, that through life may come true, but let not get confuse between dreams as aims and goals with dreams as caprices. Well since I was a kid I have aimed to become a professional skater but since life is life I have no more the opportunity to achieve that goal at my age even though I’m still young and got skills, so this goal has turned into a caprice in the good sense. Almost every day I imagine myself as a professional skateboarder doing what I love for a living, meeting different skaters and people, traveling through the world in order to go visit different spots to skate and having fun. If I was a professional skateboarder, I imagine myself hanging out in the streets with the homies drinking beers and skating together till I can’t stand. It would be a perfect life waking up in the morning with no other labor responsibilities than go to skate with the people that enjoy it as much as you, sponsor by skateboard companies which provides you the latest products and also getting paid for doing this. I wouldn’t like to be someone else I would have liked to have the right opportunities in the right moment in order to be now in the present a professional skateboarder. That is why it is only a caprice disguised as a dream which doesn’t affect me so much because skateboarding is to have fun.

Here I live you some links of what professional skateboarders are able to do. It´s amazing!

Dreaming awaken
I think is early to talk about what I’m going to do after I finish studying Architecture, if I´m able to do it, but I’ll admit I have thought about it several times. Nobody knows what will happen in the future days but is fun to try to imagine yourself in different contexts and/or situations that could happen. That is why I´m aiming that when I finally graduate from the university as an Architect, I’ll be able to dedicate myself to work freely on my workshop experimenting, constructing, and creating. I don’t imagine myself as a sculptor, I’ll rather call it as an inventor. I don´t know what specifically I would like to do in that utopian work, that is why it is only a thought also a very hard and difficult goal to reach and several years of experience is needed. I´m not still certain about my future and what I would like to do and also be able to do in those future days, I’m not interested at the moment about any other career and I think I’ll not be interested either in the future, but like I said nobody is able to know what will or what will not happen in life, it is uncertain, but it is a fun exercise to think of you in the future.

Close your eyes and think, but don't fall asleep.

Plans?
Since when I was eleven years’ old my dream has been becoming a professional skateboarder, but due to many factors in my life I know it is only a dream. That is not a bad thing, in fact it makes me work harder to become a better skater, but I´m realistic. This is why I´m studying a career in order to be able to live a comfortable life in the future. Although this is my first year I´m getting very sure that Architecture is the career where I fit in the most, and until know I am enjoying it very much beside not sleeping and redoing works every time. I´m not still very informed on what specializations can I develop on this career, but through time I will get familiar with one, I hope. But there is one thing I would like to do as an Architect that I’m sure right now and it corresponds on designing skateparks. Through the relation I have with both I think I could do very interesting and fun stuff for skaters in Chile and hopefully in other countries. That is how I plan to be my work in the future among obviously other projects, but mainly working on things I like, that seems to be a recipe for prosperity.

Here I leave you some interesting skateparks worldwide for you to check their plans and structure.

Where do I skate?
During my whole life I have live in the city of Santiago the capital of Chile. I´m part of its urbanism and have been a user of public transportation since day one. Besides all of the problems of urban design and transportation, mainly, there is one that affects me the most and it corresponds to the lack of skateparks that there are in the city. Even though there are 10 skateparks in Santiago, it is not enough in comparison with the number of communes it has, which are 36. This issue affects many skaters here in the city because these skateparks are not strategically placed in order to be easier to go to skate. We as skaters need a physic place to practice our maneuvers and have fun, so these issue causes that we have to skate in other spots that are mainly used by pedestrians and other people and where is it forbidden for us to skate. Me as a skater don´t really need skateparks because its essential is to skate the streets which is where we mostly hang out, but for us as a community is very important to respect each other spaces, so as a solution it is necessary to build more skateparks in Santiago.

Up here there´s a photo of my favorite skatepark here in Santiago located in Av. Padre Hurtado 2650 and also a video for you to enjoy.

Stop and watch!

Well although it must sound kind of contradictory, because we´re in a blog, I don´t consider myself as a constant social media user, for the reason that I consider it as a shallow way to show our life and interests. But on the other side now-a-days is the easier way for skaters around the world to share and see their videos and pictures, so it is impossible for me to avoid being a part of the media. The social media platform I use the most, in order to see the late videos posted by the main magazines of skateboarding, is Youtube which I consider the most diverse and interesting social media of all. I mainly use it to watch skate videos but in that web page you can find almost every video in the world and about anything you want to watch, from serious documentaries up to funny fails compilations. Through this media is how skaters are able to communicate and show their amazing way of expression and style in order to inspire skaters around the world. So if you are bored of the same pictures and comments on the other social media platforms and got a little of free time go visit Youtube and get lost in the variety of videos that it offers you!

Here I leave you some of my favorite skate videos on Youtube. I hope you enjoi it!

They’re Red Hot

Since middle school music has been an important part of my daily life. I remember exchanging songs and artists between my best friends, almost a friendly competition on who had listen to the best music. That’s why I consider myself a quality listener, I say it humbly. But as every listener I have preferences. My two favorite genres are Hip-Hop and Grunge, but since I was little I have always listen to the ones and only Red Hot Chili Peppers, a North American funk rock band founded in 1983, in fact they were my first favorite music band. Of course listening to music not only consists in listening through CDs or the mp3 nor what is used  now a days like spotify and soundcloud, the best way to listen to music is live, and I think no one will disagree, so when I was told by a friend that Red Hot Chili Peppers was coming to play a concert here in Santiago I didn’t doubt I had to attend to it. The 16th of September of 2011 was one of the best days of my life. The concert took place on Estadio Monumental and the opening act was done by the British band Foals, and it was amazing. A hyped and fun mood was felt in the stadium while everyone enjoyed their own way and every single song they played was a different experience. I will never forget the sudden surprise that was when they played on of my favorite songs of their album Blood Sugar Sex Magic, called Sir Phsyco Sexy. This was my favorite concert of all time and I will always remember it as an amazing experience that made me fall in love deeper into music. So if you are a music listener and lover no doubt to attend to a concert of your favorite band or any kind of music one day it’s a great experience.
Here I live you my favorite song in studio version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BBT9BVdw6o for you to enjoi!
